Using External Logistics Providers
Integrating External Logistics Providers with Galileo's pNFT Custody and Delivery Principles
3PL: An external logistics provider, or 3PL, is a company that specializes in offering comprehensive services like storage, shipping, fulfillment, and distribution. Many Sellers on the Galileo Marketplace choose to partner with a 3PL to handle these aspects on their behalf, ensuring efficient management of the physical products linked to Physical Non-Fungible Tokens (pNFTs).
Seller's Responsibilities with 3PL: When opting for a 3PL, Sellers must treat these providers as an extension of their own operations. This means ensuring the 3PL upholds the same level of custody, care, and preservation expected by Galileo, particularly in keeping the physical product's condition and specifications aligned with its Galileo platform listing.
Communication and Transparency with Galileo: Sellers are required to furnish Galileo with comprehensive details about their chosen 3PL, including contact information and the storage location of the physical products. This enables Galileo to conduct any necessary compliance checks and audits with ease.
Coordination for pNFT Redemption: In scenarios where a Buyer decides to redeem a pNFT, the Seller, via their 3PL, must organize the delivery of the physical product to the Buyer's designated address. It's crucial for Sellers to liaise with their 3PL to facilitate any required compliance verification by Galileo, ensuring the product matches its listing details.
Addressing Custody Fees and Additional 3PL Costs: Utilizing a 3PL may incur extra costs for Sellers. Such expenses should be factored into the overall custody and management fees associated with the pNFT. Sellers have a responsibility to clearly disclose these additional costs to potential Buyers beforehand, in line with Galileo's transparency principles.
Address Information Guidelines: For billing purposes, Sellers must provide their personal and/or professional address and phone number. However, the shipping address should reflect the 3PL's details, including the provider's contact number. It's imperative to distinguish between billing and shipping addresses in the Galileo system to prevent any confusion and ensure accuracy in logistics operations. Integrated Shipping Solutions: Currently, Galileo offers the option for users to select Carrier Calculated Shipping primarily for cost estimation purposes. However, in the future, Galileo aims to expand this functionality to enable users not only to calculate shipping costs but also to generate shipping labels directly within the platform. This enhancement will streamline the shipping process, providing users with a more comprehensive and integrated solution for managing their logistics needs.
By adhering to these guidelines, Sellers can seamlessly integrate the use of 3PLs into their Galileo operations, maintaining the platform's standards for product custody, delivery, and overall management. This harmonized approach safeguards the interests of both Buyers and Sellers, preserving the integrity and trust within the Galileo Marketplace.
